Producer's Notes

The thinking behind creating the fictional series ECO2 goes beyond just entertaining viewers. Marching towards 2030, climate scientists estimate that we have less than a decade to take action to save the human species and much of life on Earth. Our show is meant to entertain, while inspiring and mobilizing multiple generations in the fight to keep our planet inhabitable.

Our strong, well-developed, and complex characters are relatable to a diverse audience. Not only will viewers empathize with our eco-warriors’ plight, but they will also become more informed about the problems facing our planet and gain a greater awareness of the myriad of viable solutions, all through exciting, dramatic storytelling.

ECO2 missions take place in varying locations around the world, seemingly a big undertaking. However, principal photography of leading characters can be shot using the cutting-edge “volume technology” already used in the virtual production of several major series, such as “1899.” This volume technology nearly eliminates on-location shooting by putting photorealistic backgrounds behind actors. If necessary, it can also be combined with limited establishing shots in different exotic locations, captured in high-definition 3D by local second units.

Scripted news remotes and other segments can quickly be shot onstage and will provide a backdrop and context for mission and action.

We, as producers, recognize the importance of telling this story of the fight to save life on Earth, in a marketable way that is palatable to a wide audience. This is NOT a documentary, but a fictional adventure based on real science full of intrigue and action amidst ominous climate predictions and unapologetic environmental bad actors. Juxtaposed with technological advancements and humanity’s best intentions, the story is driven by hope and heroes.

“If pollution has been created by Humans, it can be solved by Humans. Facts and figures won’t sell a ticket. If you are going to sell a movie, you have to seduce people with a story”. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Austrian World Summit, The Climate Initiative 2021

And what if we don’t tell this story? Where will we be in a decade? THIS IS THE TIME.
